## Choose a voice

Pick a voice at the setup step **Voice**, or later under **Settings → Receptionist → Phone line**. Preview a voice when a sample is available.

| Voice | Character |
| --- | --- |
| Ara | Warm, professional. The default. |
| Eve | Calm, friendly |
| Leo | Deep, steady |
| Rex | Upbeat, energetic |

Changing the voice applies to the next call. A call already in progress keeps the voice it started with.

### Record your own voice

Custom voices are recorded in the iPhone app (15 seconds to 3 minutes of clean speech). Once recorded, a custom voice can be applied to any line from the web console. A custom voice belongs to your workspace and is never available to another. Deleting it returns lines that used it to the default voice.

The raw recording is a voiceprint. It is held only while it uploads and is deleted afterwards. It is never stored.

## Greeting and personality

Under **Settings → Receptionist → Identity and greeting** you set:

- **Receptionist name.** What the AI calls itself.
- **Greeting.** What callers hear first. Write it as you would say it. Include your business name.
- **Persona instructions.** How it should sound and behave.

Callers are told the line is recorded before the AI takes anything down. See [call handling](https://docs.airhug.ai/setup/call-handling.md).

## Voice quality and models

Airhug supports more than one voice model and can switch between them. The default is chosen for how natural it sounds. You do not need to pick a model.

## Checks

- Call your number. The greeting and voice match what you chose.
- Change the voice, hang up, and call again. The new voice is used.
